Marker styling and priority

Understand which marker style wins when defaults, Types and Location overrides are all configured.

Velox Map Locator applies marker styling in a predictable priority order.

Priority order

  1. Location-specific marker override — highest priority.
  2. Primary Type marker — used when the Location itself does not override it.
  3. Locator/theme default — used when neither of the higher levels defines the marker.

Use Locator/theme defaults for the general visual system, Primary Type markers for meaningful categories, and Location-level overrides only for genuine exceptions. This prevents marker management from becoming fragmented.

Troubleshooting

If a marker does not look as expected, inspect the Location override first, then its Primary Type, then the Locator appearance settings.
