Velox Map Locator overview

Understand the plugin’s core model, major capabilities and where each part of the workflow fits.

Velox Map Locator is built around two reusable objects: Locations and Locators. A Location stores information about one real-world place. A Locator decides which Locations to display and how visitors can search, filter and interact with them.

What you can build

Use the plugin for office finders, store locators, branch directories, dealer networks, service centres, facilities, kiosks and other coordinate-based directories. The same Location can appear in more than one Locator, so you maintain business data once and reuse it across different public experiences.

Core capabilities

  • Unlimited Locations, Types, Groups and reusable Locators.
  • Split Map + List, Map Only and List Only layouts.
  • OpenStreetMap, Google Maps and reusable Custom XYZ tile profiles.
  • Search, Type/Group/Country/City filters and visitor-initiated Near Me sorting.
  • Marker clustering, synchronized map/list interaction and business-hours status.
  • Light/Dark/Auto appearance modes, responsive layouts and RTL awareness.
  • CSV import/export, a Gutenberg block and the shortcode.

Configure the map provider you intend to use, create several representative Locations, build one Locator, embed it on a test page and verify the experience at desktop and mobile widths before scaling up your dataset.
