Background presentation matters most when content authors can choose images with different dimensions or focal points.

Position

Choose a position that protects the usual focal area of your images. Center is a safe general default, while top, left, right, or custom positions may be better for portraits or branded artwork.

Cover and contain

Cover fills the whole background area and may crop the image. Contain keeps the whole image visible but can leave unused space. Choose according to the design purpose rather than the individual page.

Repeat

For photographic Featured Images, no-repeat is normally appropriate. Repeating backgrounds are better suited to pattern-like assets.

Responsive review

Always check the crop on smaller screens. A background that is balanced on desktop can hide the subject when the same Container becomes tall and narrow.
