Background overlay

Use an overlay to protect text contrast without editing the source Featured Image.

When text is placed over a variable Featured Image, an overlay can create a more consistent reading surface.

Use overlays for contrast

Choose an overlay strong enough that headings, breadcrumbs, and controls remain readable across both light and dark source images.

Keep text separate from the image

An overlay should support real text in the Elementor layout. Avoid using it as a substitute for accessible content or embedding important words into the image.

Test representative images

A single attractive Featured Image is not enough to validate a reusable template. Test bright, dark, detailed, portrait and landscape images so the overlay works across the content set.
